The Hotel Ramada Plaza Herradura was first build in March 1975 by Exposiciones Agropecuarias Bonanza, to allocate the foreigner participants of agropecuarian events in Costa Rica with the name Hotel Herradura Americano. Later on, the name was modified to Hotel Herradura, which was, and still is a land mark in Costa Rica.
